Today was the public unveiling of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC near the Lincoln Memorial. On Sunday, the 48th anniversary of when Dr. King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech, hundreds of thousands will come out for its official dedication. It will be a hell of a contrast to the big event that happened a year ago that day, the infamous rally held at the Lincoln Memorial by Glenn Beck, where this picture was taken. Or will it? Is there any reason to assume that the mostly white crowd that came out to excoriate the country’s first Black president will not come out to pay tribute to the man they said they revered? Well, we have a bunch of videos of people we hope will be there. Will they come out? Will they?
One People’s Project
Here’s a vid that we produced featuring just some of the folks we would like to see at the dedication this Sunday.
This is a extended scene from the beginning of the above video. Herb Lux of the John Birch Society is talking with DLJ. Seriously, this was a good discussion with him, and we would love to rap with him again.
CarlosQC, a local DC blogger, was also on hand to talk with the assembled.
We REALLY would like these two to show up! They truly need to learn something.
These folks too.
