Revolution News is on the ground as militia types, xenophobes and straight up hatemongers attempt a phony show of force.
Revolution News
Murrieta, California has been making international headlines ever since a mob of angry racists blocked buses of refugee children from entering the Border Patrol facility on Tuesday. Buses of refugee children from Central America are supposed to arrive in Murrieta every 72 hours, and Border Patrol hasn’t even attempted to send a bus to their facilities since Tuesday (despite right wing claims that they’ve “blocked” the bus again on the 7th and 10th).
Some of the protestors claim they care about the children, and that they just want to send them back to their families. But the reality is that the children reported being terrified by the protestors. The reality is that the protestors terrorized children – most of whom are fleeing violence caused by American Imperialism – when they blocked the buses while screaming “USA, USA!” and “send them back!”
Tea party hypocrisy peaked when protestors shouted down an activist begging for compassion, citing biblical sentiments, with a “USA! USA!” chant.
Despite claims of non violence, multiple protestors attacked livesteamer PM Beers on the 4th just for filming the scene. Afterwards, police who seemingly sided with the attacking group forcibly detained and almost arrested her. See the videos here.
Many of the anti-children protestors deny accusations of racism, but their hypocrisy is revealed through their actions, and by the way some of the participants have been representing themselves.
And by the signs people hold at the protests.
And by the fact that some of them crashed a peaceful vigil and donation drive to harass a group supporting child refugees on the 9th.
Bigoted and sensationalist news organization Infowars came to crash the vigil as well.
In addition, Murrieta anti immigration protestors held a full size confederate flag on July 10th, which can be seen in this video at timecode 1:04.
Yet these people still have the nerve to claim that this is somehow not about race. All of this despite outlandish and racist accusations aimed at the refugee children, and counter protestors (it was bogusly claimed by right wing news that the Brown Berets are a part of “La Raza”). Right wing news outlets such as Infowars and Breitbart (there are many more) have run a plethora of disinformation pieces, starting with the false allegation (or flag, ha ha) that the feds were going to send in riot police on the 7th to make sure the buses got through. Along with Fox News, right wing news outlets have used bogus sources to make the claim that the refugee children are carrying dangerous diseases. This came to a pinnacle when bigoted satire website, “The National Report” released a fake CDC warning about diseases spreading in Murrieta.
Murrieta city council candidate Diana Serafin, one of the main organizers of the bus blocking protests, has falsely stated that gang members showed up on the 4th and that counter protestors burned flags. The disinformation is thick with this crew, and it runs all the way to the top.
Perhaps the most disgusting external result of all of this hysteria has been a copy cat protest group in Tuscola, Illinois who are protesting a shelter that hopes to become home to 120 refugee children and teens, between the ages of 12-17. Or maybe it was the white power anti immigration rally in Portland on July 7th, likely inspired by all the Murrieta commotion.
It’s also worth noting that militia groups in Texas are attempting to patrol the border and claim to have set up a command center under their own authority.
On the other side, there are families of migrants or refugees, political activists, even some local residents, and a whole lot of people showing out in defense of these children, with love.
The compassion peaked at the vigil, where multiple religious leaders and family members of refugees spoke in solidarity with the children.
Provocateurs showed up..
But in the end, they failed to ruin the mood. Some protestors even sang a blessing to one of them before the end of the evening.
And many donations were collected for the refugees!

Help the Inland Empire Rapid Response Network and SBCS raise funds to provide refugee assistance to the hundreds if not thousands in need.
In the end, this is a fight between racists and humanitarians, the compassionate and the calloused. This crisis is not just ours, it exists in almost every country to varying degrees. Eritrean refugees in Yemen live under tarps and the constant threat of persecution, there are nearly 3 million Syrian refugees fleeing war, refugees in Germany are constantly fighting for the right to stay, and the current military actions in Gaza promise to create even more Palestinian refugees, not to mention the other Refugee crises in the area.
The only hope for easing this crisis is solidarity from citizens in the countries that refugees seek residence in, and a true fight against anti immigration protestors, imperialism, and other fascist elements worldwide.
