Cort Rosholt’s (pictured) group the Independence Hall Tea Party Association changed their name to the Independence Hall Foundation, since the “tea party” moniker was sooo 2009. They still bring the same condescending filth that they always had however, painting themselves as the true standard bearers of America, and championing those who look at people killed or hurt by police violence as “the new heroes” they have to protect America from. They furthered that with this rally that could not even bring out the numbers of the last one.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Where last month, the day before two police officers were killed in New York City, 400 persons turned out for a pro-Police rally in the Mayfair neighborhood, half that number came out for a similar rally at Independence Hall sponsored by a one time Tea Party organization.
Unlike the Mayfair rally, the Delaware Vally Pro-Blue Rally had more time to organize, was in a well-travelled location and featured local elected officials and personalities, but the cold weather was cited as a reason why only 200 persons came out to this event put on by the Independence Hall Foundation, which before last summer was the Independence Hall Tea Party Association, the group that confronted Occupy Philadelphia in 2011 under the name Liberate Philadelphia. Although more black persons were in attendence at this rally as opposed to the Mayfair rally, but most of them were black conservatives who were invited to speak, including Former Philadelphia Eagle and radio host Garry Cobb, who just lost his bid for a congressional seat in New Jersey, and documentarian Tigre Hill, who produced a film attacking Mumia Abu-Jamal, currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner, that many feel he did not commit.
A number of speakers decried the protests against police violence over the past several months, attacking the protestors directly. Sen. Pat Toomey declared that those protestors “don’t speak for America,” while Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Secretary Bob Ballentine complained about how Abu-Jamal, Mike Brown, who was killed in Ferguson, MO by police officer Darren Wilson, Eric Garner who was killed in a reputed chokehold by police officer Daniel Pantaleo and others killed by police violence were being seen as a new kind of heroes that society has championed. “We’re volunteers who come when called without question and without fail,” he said. “We will still be here as always. We are here to protect you from the new heroes.”
Similar pro-police rallies have been held across the country, but none have been able to match the numbers or frequency of the rallies held calling for police reform.
