NICK GRIFFIN IS GOING TO MAKE SOME PRETTY INTERESTING ROUNDS WHILE IN THE STATES – CPAC INCLUDED

You say you cannot make it out to the DC area to oppose the American Renaissance Conference happening Feb 19-21? Don’t worry! If you are in Michigan and Ohio, you are going to get a little bit of a taste of what will go down that weekend when British National Party Leader Nick Griffin once again tries to give a speech at Michigan State University (he’s picture here with former MSU student Kyle Bristow – in the cowboy hat – who brought him there in 2007), then travel out to Kenyon College in Ohio to do an evening appearance there (Bristow plans to be at this event). Both are happening on Feb. 18, the day before AmRen begins, so this will be a consolation prize for antifa who can’t make it out to DC or practice for those who can. But let’s say you are going to be in DC that weekend, but you are going to be spending all your time at Conservative Political Action Conference? Fear not, because someone’s got you covered. Griffin, is reportedly planning on making his way out to CPAC as well, which means the cross-pollination that we expected between CPAC and AmRen is about to come to fruition. So what say we keep that week free, eh? Lady Liberty’s Lamp is already on it, and we are sure to hear more from other outlets. In other words, this sounds like that’s the week to say a good time will be had by all – that are antifa.

Nick Griffin’s appearance in the United States this month is bound to become more of an event than was originally expected, as in addition to his keynote address to the American Renaissance conference, he also plans to speak to two Midwest colleges, one that he saw controversy in before, and in a surprise move plans to also make an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

According to a press release by a new student organization at Michigan State University called Sons of Liberty, Griffin will speak there at Noon on February 18, the day before the AmRen Conference is expected to begin in Virginia. In 2007, he had been invited by the MSU Chapter of Young Americans For Freedom (MSU-YAF), which was headed up by then MSU-student Kyle Bristow, who is now reportedly a grad student in Toledo, Ohio. That event, according to the press release resulted in a protest where antifa drowned him out and beat an effigy of him outside Wharton Center, the hall he spoke at. According to an online police report, at least two individuals with sticks, bats and canes chased six MSU-YAF members through the Wharton Center parking lot but no injuries or arrests were reported.

From there, Griffin travels to Gambier, Ohio, 57 miles from Columbus, where he will speak at Kenyon College that evening at 7:30. This event is sponsored by the Robert A. Taft Society, who posted an announcement on Facebook. Among those who have stated there that they plan to attend is Kyle Bristow, who makes three posts there, one of the YouTube video of the first MSU appearance by Griffin, another linking to the American Renaissance posting of the Sons of Liberty press release, and a third simply saying “Viva Griffin!”

The Sons of Liberty press release is the first and so far only mention of a Griffin appearance at CPAC, although this would not be the first time a controversial speaker was brought to CPAC in a clandestine way. Last year, anti-Muslim politician Geert Wilders spoke at the conference, but although CPAC attendees were told Wilders was going to be there, they were not informed when or where until that Friday, when flyers began appearing informing them that his event would be held on the other side of the hotel away from the main conference. That flyer also warned attendees to “Expect heavy security: no bags or coats allowed, all materials brought in to (sic) the room will be searched, and the event organizers reserve the right to deny entry to or eject anyone at any time.” Wilders’ appearance was sponsored by Sen. John Kyl and funded by David Horowitz of Frontpagemag.com, and anti-Muslim blogger Pamela Geller. If Nick Griffin is indeed going to make an appearance at CPAC, it is not known who is involved in making it happen.

Meanwhile, a quick internet search yields some information on those who’s names come up as being responsible for Griffin’s other appearances. Jordan Zammit is noted in the release as a political science/pre-law freshman and founder and president of the Sons of Liberty, but a MySpace page believed to be his says that he is from Brownstown, Michigan. There, the 18-year-old wrote some rambling, incendiary blog entries seemingly calling for insurrection against what he called “a plague in our midst” in one post. “Today they have made extremism into a dirty word,” he wrote. “(W)ell what are we to do when our crime is extreme, do we give a moderate response? Or do we raise the stakes and meet them where they left off. Or do we grab them by their cowardly skulls and throw them on their knees so they can know we have won before the trigger is pulled.” The Keyton College event was posted on Facebook by a student named Taylor Somers, a third-positionist who runs a paleoconservative outfit called Occident. He has generated small buzz because of an interview found on various websites, and antifa took notice, spamming the Occident Facebook page with anti-racist pictures and other material.

No opposition towards any of the appearances have been called as of press time.
