SUSPECT IN EUGENE TERREBLANCHE'S KILLING OUT ON BAIL

This must have been a rather crappy month for South African white supremacists who thought they were going to use the World Cup for their little propaganda. They thought they were going to be able to talk of all the crimes committed by Blacks against people coming to the games, and instead the biggest complaints we have heard is about a plastic horn making a lot of noise in B-Flat. They also thought they were going to have rallies during the World Cup to call attention to the death of white supremacist Eugene Terreblanche, murdered allegedly by two farmworkers he refused to pay. They couldn’t get that together either. They called for violence against the games in retalliation, and ended up getting picked up beforehand. Even the Netherlands – more or less the mother country of many Afrikaners – ended up losing to Spain. Now comes the latest F.U. to them – one of the Terreblanche suspects is out on bail. Now we are sure that the WP crowd are going to call for someone to do him harm, but so what? They have bumbling around for the past few months, why should we think that’s going to stop now? Yeah, yeah. We know. They might just surprise us. Not really. Even if they did try something, folks seem to be prepared for jus such an occasion. Let them make a move. We will probably laugh about it here.

JOHANNESBURG, PA — A prosecution official says a suspect in the killing of a white supremacist in South Africa has been granted bail.

Chris Mahlangu was released on 500 rand ($65) bail Wednesday by a magistrate.

Prosecution official Mthunzi Mhanga says police will have to protect the suspect if followers of the slain white supremacist were to threaten him.

Eugene Terreblanche was beaten to death with an iron rod at his farm about 200 kilometers (60 miles) west of Johannesburg in April. Mahlangu and a 15-year-old who had worked on Terreblanche’s farm are charged with the murder. The teenager is not seeking bail.

Terreblanche’s death has not sparked wider violence, despite calls for revenge by some of Terreblanche’s followers.
