COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) – Authorities arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot, saying he rigged a bomb attached to the intended victim’s vehicle.

The Spokesman-Review reports Larry Andrew Fairfax, who appeared in U.S. District Court on firearms charges on Wednesday, last week told federal agents about the plot – but had failed to inform them he’d already rigged the bomb.

Fairfax’s arrest comes after Edgar J. Steele, a lawyer for members of the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations group, was taken into custody last week, accused of hiring a hit man to try to kill his wife and mother-in-law.

A sport-utility vehicle registered to Steele was found this week with what appeared to be an explosive device.

Fairfax was arrested Tuesday after investigators say he told them he’d made the bomb at his home near Sagle.
