Call the Paramedics, the band that has made their name among the neo-Nazi Atlantic City “Skins” has a few more shows out there, and one of them is at Dingbats in Clifton, NJ. This was one of several venues that didn’t allow them to play in July after outrage against the band caused more than a few people to take notice. Well, it has been announced that they will be playing the event called Deathfest at the club on Oct. 22, 23. This, by the way is the name of the event that they are supposed to play next Friday, Aug. 27, a gig that is supposed to include the band Exodus, but it looks like there are different promoters. In any case, we may have a few antifa out there that wants to make some noise about this, especially since after the one gig they managed to keep, they dared antifa to come out. If that’s the way they want to play it fine, but the issue is simple. We don’t want Nazis in our scenes. We built this for all people, not for a bunch of jackasses who think they can marginalize everyone. We get enough of that from our politicians. We don’t need it in our bands – and won’t accept it.

While clubs and venues have been shutting their doors to the neo-Nazi-associated, mysoginistic band Call the Paramedics, the promoters of two different events called Deathfest not only have kept the band on the bill for an Aug. 27 show in Philadelphia, they have just announced them on the bill for a similar New Jersey show on Oct 22, 23 at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ, one of the venues that shut down a show they were supposed to play in July.
Deathfest is an event featuring a number of death metal acts over the course of a weekend, many of whom have no association with hate groups or even political activism. The New Jersey “Death Fest”, while related, has different promoters than the “Hostile City Deathfest” in Philadelphia. That event is scheduled to include veteran metal band Exodus, and will take place at Club Polaris at 452-468 N. 9th St
In July, Call the Paramedics lost numerous shows when it was learned of their longtime associations with the Atlantic City “Skinheads”, a neo-Nazi crew whose members and associates with a reputation for violence, not just within their scene but against the greater public. Two years ago, an ACS associate shot and killed a black woman during a carjacking. In addition, the band has promoted vile stances towards women in the name of what they say to simply shock people, namely with a song titled “It’s Not Rape, It’s Surprise Sex”.
The band has played in a number of underground shows, but once they started playing more traveled venues, a number of people particularly in scenes on the East Coast expressed outrage. After losing numerous shows, prompting a few newspaper articles in the process, they ended up playing only one show in and taunted anti-racist activists on their Facebook page because they did not come out to protest that gig. “You guys talk so big and threaten to attack our fans,” they wrote, “but are cowards and call the police to defend you, how (sic) bout you guys stand up for what you keep preaching on your blogs, if (sic)…you’re not going to do that then kick rocks and let us play shows for our homies. (sic) CTP WINS, FUCK YOU (sic)”
Call the Paramedics member Mike Beer, known for sporting his “White Power” tattoo on his buttocks was slightly more conciliatory in an email to One People’s Project when he complained that the protests and calls were hurting his livelihood, but said at the same time that “We’re not going anywhere.”
