WHITE POWER CONCERT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE GLENN BECK RALLY?

Untitled Document

Uprise

In this day and age where even the white supremacists are trying their level best to run from the racist charge, there is too much fun to be had when those one time open Nazis try to go mainstream – or at least take advantage of opportunities given to them by the less open of their circles. Providing us with the laughs this weekend will be Maryland “Skinheads” as they just so happen to have a White Power concert in Baltimore, MD the same day as Glenn Beck’s rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC an hour’s drive away. Uprise is the show that Keystone State “Skinheads” put on annualy, but they haven’t been heard from in months. Questions about that crew’s current status have been swirling for a while. especially since this show was supposed to have taken place last winter, and with their usual associates Maryland “Skinheads” moving the event to Baltimore this weekend, those questions have come up even more. Now that might mean we will have a rather boring Columbus Day Weekend in October if they don’t do the “Leif Erickson Day Celebration” this year, but nevertheless, it is just another thing that is making the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech even more surreal – and Glenn Beck’s rally even more despicable, since you know some of the boneheads won’t stay away from that rally. Hey, this is what conservatives do. What they don’t want us to do is recognize their BS when we see it. Sucks for them that we do.

BALTIMORE, MD—While a lot has been made of Glenn Beck’s controversial rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on Saturday, the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech”, not much has been said about events taking place an hour’s drive away after that event. A white power concert called Uprise will be held at an undisclosed location in or near the City of Baltimore.

It’s fourth time out for this concert, and there are some particularly curious changes to this year’s event. Uprise is not being held in the Winter nor is it in Pennsylvania, as has been the case in years’ past. It is also being sponsored by Label 56, a neo-Nazi record label run by members of the Maryland “Skinheads” and another neo-Nazi label Final Stand Records. But the most glaring change is who is missing from the sponsorship: the event’s originators, Keystone United, formerly known as Keystone State “Skinheads”.

Questions have been circulating about the status of Keystone United for a number of months. Their website has not been updated since February, its online forum is in disrepair and some members have been reported to be probating with other neo-Nazi organizations like Volksfront and the Vinlander Social Club.

The last event put together by Keystone United was last October’s “Leif Erickson Day Celebration” in Philadelphia. That outing was seen as a huge failure because the group was not able to prevent anti-racist activists from disrupting the event. Since then, Keystone United member Keith Carney, the primary organizer of that event, was only seen at hardcore concerts in the area, but he got himself into an altercation with members of Anti-Racist Action (ARA) at a concert by the band DRI in Philadelphia, and at a New Jersey DRI show the following evening, he would not even go to the bathroom without someone standing guard. At a third DRI show in Trenton, NJ a few months later on Memorial Day Weekend, he left within minutes when he saw the ARA table set up there, all the while telling members he was not a Nazi. He has not been reported at shows all summer.

Meanwhile, longtime neo-Nazi activist and Keystone United member Steve Smith was seen on August 14 at the European American Heritage Celebration he organized in Moosic, PA, but photos show him representing the paleoconservative American Third Position (A3P), not Keystone United. A3P is an organization that has been attempting to get the support of the mainstream with their toned-down brand of neo-Nazi politics, and have been seen at several events where they would find a sizable number of the white community, particularly Tea Party events such as the one Beck is hosting on Saturday. One A3P member is Erick Weigel, who was last reported as a member of the Nationalist Coalition. He is reportedly also a member of the Warren County, NJ Tea Party who is organizing buses to the Glenn Beck event. Both are associates of Daniel Smeriglio who has been organizing volunteers for the Glenn Beck rally on Facebook.

Several organizations are planning to oppose Glenn Beck’s rally via counter-demonstrations and alternate events, citing the racism not only he has displayed in the past, but also because of both the racism and/or excuses for racism from its speakers. Rev. Al Sharpton will be leading a rally that will take them to the site of the proposed Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, mere yards away from the Lincoln Memorial.

With the exception of those who either got locked up or grew up, the assorted Nazi scumbags seen in this video are whom you can expect to see at this year’s Uprise show in Baltimore, and who knows? They might make a day of it and go to Glenn Beck’s rally too!

The guy being interviewed in this video is also planning to show up at the Glenn Beck rally.
