He was arrested for rape in 1992, but the charges were dropped. He went to jail in 1995 for assault. Now he is sitting in a Butler County, Ohio jail cell on charges that he held a woman hostage and raped her 17 times over the course of eight days. And police found an Aryan Nations uniform in his closet. We have said it before how it never ceases to amaze us how often the people who complain the most about black crime are often those white people who can’t seem to keep themselves out of trouble. Hypocrite Row has a new resident going by the name of William “Wild Bill” Manis, and it doesn’t look like he will be leaving anytime soon. Gee we wonder if Bill Cunningham, the local racist radio show host to these parts, is going to talk about this crime. Or is Manis a little too much on the light side for him?

Written materials from that white supremacist group filled three plastic tubs, a wooden chest and a cardboard box.

A search warrant released Tuesday reveals those were among the items police seized from the home of William “Wild Bill” Manis, accused of holding a woman captive in a closet of his Hamilton home for 10 days and repeatedly raping her until she escaped Friday.

Other evidence seized from Manis’ rented Campbell Avenue home includes clothing, couch cushions, pillows, a comforter, a rope, a bat, a lock, bloody carpeting, a hammer, a nail and a pocket knife.

The 22-year-old woman said Manis kept her restrained and nailed the closet door shut from Nov. 16 until her escape Friday.

So far, the Aryan Nations materials aren’t linked to the alleged rapes or any other crimes, but because the case was so serious, police seized any items that might provide clues, said Hamilton Police Chief Neil Ferdelman.

“We wanted to make sure that every investigative turn is looked at,” the chief said.

Ferdelman said investigators also will try to find out whether Manis kidnapped other young women.

The woman, whom Manis is accused of kidnapping and raping 18 times, told the Enquirer that Manis said he was hired to kidnap her and other young women so they could be sold as sex slaves. She said Manis gave her the name of another victim who escaped but didn’t report her ordeal to police.

The FBI is working with Hamilton police on the investigation, confirmed Special Agent Mike Brooks, spokesman for the FBI’s Cincinnati office.

He said privacy laws prevent him from revealing whether federal investigators ever focused their attention on Manis. He also said he couldn’t reveal anything about any investigations the FBI may be conducting into alleged Aryan Nations activity in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Manis, 44, is being held in the Butler County Jail.

He served prison time in both Ohio and North Carolina more than a decade ago.

Ferdelman said it’s possible he had led a law-abiding life or may have just gotten better at “covering his tracks” and avoiding brushes with the law during the past decade.

Manis is jailed on $200,000 bond.
