SARAH PALIN SAYS SHE'S A VICTIM OF BLOOD LIBEL: CAN SHE GO AWAY NOW?

PalinWe don’t hear jack from Sarah Palin for three days, and as soon as she makes her first appearance since the Tuscon shooting we immediately wish it was three more. No strike that. We would be fine with an entire century of no Sarah Palin sightings right about now. Hey, there will come a time (and very soon) when there will come a generation that will have the question “Who’s Sarah Palin?” and they will be truly blessed, but the in the meantime this friggin’ oddity continues to curse this land. The latest comes from her video response from an undisclosed location to the shootings in Arizona – namely the spanking she has received because of her little flyer of the US with crosshairs targeting Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ district. The one Giffords complained about months before she was actually shot. Fox News has become a rather (or shall we say  even more) laughable place over the past few days, spending each and every news minute talking about how right wingers, hatred and bigotry are not to blame and the sherrif who said so should be fired, but now the woman in particular they have tried to defend decided to speak for herself. And she says that her critics are engaging in blood libel. That’s right, blood libel. Yeah…blood libel. As she addresses the shooting of a Jewish Congreswoman. This complete idiot…

Simon Greer, Jewish Funds for Justice

“We are deeply disturbed bycommentator Sarah Palin’s decision to characterize as a ‘blood libel’ the criticism directed at her following the terrorist attack in Tucson. The term ‘blood libel’ is not a synonym for ‘false accusation.’ It refers to a specific falsehood perpetuated by Christians about Jews for centuries, a falsehood that motivated a good deal of anti-Jewish violence and discrimination. Unless someone has been accusing Ms. Palin of killing Christian babies and making matzoh from their blood, her use of the term is totally out-of-line.

Ms. Palin clearly took some time to reflect before putting out her statement today. Despite that time, her primary conclusion was that she is the victim(?????) and Rep. Giffords is the perpetrator. As a powerful rhetorical advocate for personal responsibility, Ms. Palin has failed to live up to her own standards with this statement.”
