Anti-Racist Action was in North Bergen, NJ this past Sunday to let the neighbors of racist radio show host Hal Turner know all about him. Turner’s racism is bad enough, but his calls for violence against Jews, immigrants and those he disagrees with has just grown plain tiresome. Turner wanted attention and he got it, which should be a lesson to anyone: if you throw down a gauntlet, you should not duck and run when someone picks it up. We hope that same attention is also given to his friend Sean Hannity, who has been trying to duck any questions about him. He won’t be able to forever though.

NORTH BERGEN, NJ, Nov. 24 – Racist radio show host Hal Turner, who has called on his website for violent actions to be taken against those he has disagreed with politically from world, national and community leaders, to political activists, himself became a target of a more peaceful response. The New Jersey Chapter of Anti-Racist Action (ARA) visited his community and distributed flyers to his neighbors alerting them to his presence there.
Over 200 flyers in two hours were posted on telephone poles, placed on cars and handed directly to people near Turner’s home at the Riverview Condos at 1906-10 Paterson Plank Road. The flyer informed readers that Turner broadcasts his radio show from his home, which is in a neighborhood that has a large Hispanic community. That community, according to the flyer, has been a particular target of Turner’s on his program, notably in regards to immigration. The flyer notes that Turner has suggested on his program that citizens “should maybe think about drive-by shootings with machine guns in front of every Mexican Consulate and kill every one of these invaders” if the INS doesn’t meet up to his standards of dealing with illegal immigration. The flyer also points out Turner’s hatred of Jews and a particular call to indiscriminately kill them in this country. “Cut their throat as they walk down the street, drive by and blast them with a shotgun…throw Molotov cocktails through their jewelry store windows and then Israel can ask us to stop,” Turner is noted as saying in the flyer.
This was the latest in a number of “outings” – ARA’s term for informing a racist’s community about his or her activities – that the group has engaged in recently. ARA have themselves been the subject of one of Turner’s threats of violence according to the flyer, especially after the incident at Baltimore travel plaza when a number of neo-Nazis going to a rally at the US Capitol in Washington DC were attacked by unknown individuals while parked inside their bus. Although 28 persons were arrested, they were eventually cleared of all charges, which angered neo-Nazis who blamed ARA for the attacks. Turner’s community was very receptive to the outing, one African American neighbor saying he is going to bring up the concerns in a community meeting.
Although threats by Turner are seldom, if ever, acted upon, he has attracted some attention due to his connections with mainstream political figures and pundits. Among them has been fellow radio show host Sean Hannity who has in the past avoided publicly dealing with his relationship with Turner. According to some sources, including past internet postings by Turner himself, Hannity is a friend to the extent that they speak on the phone and once has been an guest, along with his son, in the Fox News Channel studio while Hannity tapes his show with Alan Colmes. Turner was not on the program itself, however, his only notable airtime on Hannity’s program only coming as an on-air caller.
Turner is not North Bergen’s only racist resident. James Mazzone, the head of New Jersey Aryan Nations, lives at 6024 N. Bergen Rd. To date, there has been no outing done regarding him.
