CONFIRMED: NEO-NAZI AFFILIATED BAND BOUNCED OFF MICHIGAN SHOW!

Major DisappointmentAs we noted in the update about this, Grant Moreland, the owner of Morelands Motorcross Park was none too pleased that people called out the band Major Disappointment for it’s ties to Nazi groups. First he wanted to say that he was not going to bounce a group off a bill because they were Nazis, then after more people emailed to complain said he was removing them from the bill, said he never wanted to talk about it anymore, then bitched about people hurting his livelihood over this. The way we see it, if you are so hard up for cash that you would bow to Nazis as they stink up a local music scene and get paid for it, you deserve to be even harder up for cash! Remember this character actually suggested that if folks want to protest the band, they should do so by paying his $10 to come inside and do it! We don’t go to shows to dance and sing with Nazis, and for the record the feeling’s mutual. So to all those venues out there that book bands associated with the white supremacist scene, don’t expect anyone to just let it go. Expect people to be rightly pissed – and them to respond. Once again, Major Disappointment is off the bill at this weekend’s “Headbanger’s Ball” at Morelands Motorcross Park in Stanton, Michigan. Mad props go out to Detroit Anti-Racist Action for bringing this to light, and keep up the good work!

Moreland’s Motorcross Park in Stanton has canceled the appearance of the band Major Disappointment, which is led by a well known neo-Nazi.

Grant Moreland, one of the owners of the park, says that he made the decision to cancel the appearance.

“I have cancelled his appearance,” Moreland said. “I can’t say anything more that.”

The band features the bass playing of Dan Carlson of Cadillac. Carlson has fronted for white nationalist bands, playing in various parts of the country for National Socialist Movement, or NSM, events. Here is a link to a blog from a Nebraska event in 2007.

Carlson also made headlines in 2006 when he showed up at Central Michigan University and wanted the university to sponsor a debate between himself and reformed Nazi T.J. Leyden. Also in 2005, Carlson’s NSM participated in a park cleanup program with Cadillac. As part of that program, the group was given a certificate of appreciation signed by the town’s mayor, causing significant concerns.

In 2007, Carlson spoke with the Kalamazoo Gazette during an Aug. 4 rally organized by a racist radio host from New Jersey named Hal Turner. It was later revealed Turner was an informant for the FBI.
