How ironic is it that a guy from Oklahoma coming out of the same political fringes that gave us Timothy McVeigh was found guilty of sexual abuse of a child on the 17th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing?

Charles Dyer, who saw internet fame as a video blogger, and who is a member of the right wing organization Oath Keepers and a frequent presence at Tea Party rallies was found guilty On April 19 of sexual abuse of a child, according to KFDX News.
The jury returned the verdict at 8PM, and reccomended that Dyer be sentenced to 30 years in prison. Dyer has represented himself and even the then-7-year-old victim testified in court, but only before the judge attornies and defendant.
Dyer, who says he was a Marine Sergeant and served in Iraq, did a video blog on YouTube under the name “July4Patriot” where he railed against a repressive government and the “New World Order.” He appeared at the first Oath Keepers meeting in April 2009 wearing an Oathkeeper sweatshirt and has spoken at Tea Party rallies. In January 2010, he was arrested for the sexual abuse and after a search of his home was also charged with stealing a grenade launcher stolen from Fort Irwin, Calif., in 2006 and found during the search. He was cleared of those charges and eventually released on bond, but last year failed to appear in court and went on the lam. We was found within a week just south of Houston, Texas.
Sentencing is set for June.
