EX-TOWSON YWC PRESIDENT PROPOSES 'WHITE STUDENT UNION' PLANS TO BRING JARED TAYLOR TO CAMPUS IN OCTOBER

HeimbachWhite supremacist Matthew Heimbach (pictured) is back to picking fights again at Towson University, but you have to be the stupidest member of the faculty to sign on as an adviser to anything associated with him after all the BS he pulled last year. And if he brings Jared Taylor to campus in October like he wants, that will confirm it for anyone watching.

TOWSON UNIVERSITY, MD.—Having failed in his attempt to hide behind the thinly veiled racism of Youth for Western Civilization (YWC), starting a student chapter at the school, but seeing it disband after losing its faculty adviser, student Matthew Heimbach is simply removing the veil and openly calling for a white student union on campus while using a paraphrased slogan popular with neo-Nazis. In addition, he is also making plans to bring a prominent white supremacist to speak at Towson University.

“White students share a bond that is far deeper than skin color; the identity of the folk may have been trampled and attacked for generations but it is time to reestablish ourselves as a people and stand up for our rights,” Heimbach wrote in a letter published in the Towerlight, the Towson University newspaper. He ended the letter with the statement, “We must protect the security of Europeans and a future for the next generation.” That is similar to the 14 words slogan seen often in white supremacist circles: “We must secure the existence of White People and a future for our children”. The slogan was coined by David Lane who died in prison in 2007 after serving 22 years of a 190-year prison sentence for his activities as a member of the neo-Nazi terrorist group the Order, which included robbery and murder, most notably the murder of Denver radio host Alan Berg in 1984.

While Youth for Western Civilization often put on the façade that they were not a white supremacist organization, Heimbach has been open about his racist stances regardless. The son of a high school history teacher and a descendant of Confederate soldiers, he was first seen in the press proposing a Civil War memorial to Confederate soldiers in his hometown of Poolesville, MD, a Confederate stronghold during the Civil War. In his address on the matter to the Poolesville Parks Board in May 2011 however, he brought with him Shane Long, the Vice Chairman of the Neo-Confederate League of the South (LOS), an organization that supports secession from the United States and who’s leader Michael Hill promotes an all-white South that would be in his words, “(A) return to a political and social system based on kith and kin rather than an impersonal state wedded to the idea of the universal rights of man.” Heimbach is also a member of the LOS.

Later that year, Heimbach established Youth for Western Civilization as a student organization at Towson University, but while he maintained that the group’s efforts were in defense of European culture, the group spent much of its short existence antagonizing those whom he felt were outside that culture, from those they felt were promoting what Heimbach called a “homosexual agenda” to the Muslim Student organization which they called a terrorist organization. By the following semester the YWC chapter folded following a controversy after members chalked messages of “White Pride” across campus. Soon after, their faculty adviser Al Vatz, resigned from the position, stating in the letter, weary of what he said was “a group that attacks people or groups personally or tactlessly or does not recognize their dignity and the value of dignified argument in the marketplace of ideas.”

Heimbach’s letter prompted a flurry of discussion in the media after the Anti-Defamation League took note of it in a report on their blog, and Heimbach has met with Student Government Association advisers, although no papers have been filed in the hopes of establishing a White Student Union on campus. Despite this, on Friday, Heimbach announced on his Twitter account that American Renaissance publisher Jared Taylor may come to campus in a month. “I am honored to announce that my hero Mr. Jared Taylor will be speaking at towson university (sic) during October (sic),” he tweeted. Stay tuned for more details!”

Taylor, who is also a board member of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens, believes blacks are genetically inferior to whites, and has promoted separation of the races. His American Renaissance conferences were shut down two years in a row when hotels refused to host them after learning the nature of the events, although he was able to finally hold one this year in a remote park just outside Nashville, Tennessee for a smaller crowd. No date has been set for him to come to campus.

Youth for Western Civilization as a national organization has reportedly not been active since founder Kevin DeAnna resigned from the organization in February 2012 to work for the conservative website World Net Daily. Other members of YWC are reportedly also in the website’s employ.
