ADAM KOKESH'S PHILLY ARREST: IF YOU DIDN'T SEE IT COMING YOU'RE NOT PAYING ATTENTION!

Kokesh arrestedWell we knew SOMETHING was going to eff up professional gloryhound Adam Kokesh’s plans to hold what he called an “armed revolt” in Washington, DC on July 4. Kind of knew it was going to be an arrest of some sort, something that would guarentee weeks, months, possibly years of more attention than he could ever imagine courtesy of some “Free Adam” crowd that is now sprouting up like a weed. And with all of this going on his Philly, we are just going to sit back and enjoy the show!

PHILADELPHIA, PA—The fate of a Fourth of July rally in Washington, DC that was being called an “armed revolt” by organizer Adam Kokesh is in question after the weekend arrest of Kokesh during a pro-marijuana rally at Independence Hall.

“Adam has appeared in front of a judge and from the looks of it he is in good health,” Kokesh’s “business manager” Lucas Jewell posted on his Facebook page. “He remained silent throughout the entire process not even speaking to the lawyer that I coordinated with earlier.”

Kokesh was arrested during the “Smoke Down Prohibition” rally that has been organized by the Philadelphia chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) to openly defy what they see is unjust laws against the use of marijuana. According to court documents, the May 18 arrest stemmed from when National Park Service Rangers attempted to approach a person reportedly holding a marijuana cigarette that Kokesh had locked arms with. Moments earlier, Kokesh was on a microphone encouraging people to smoke and form a tight circle to hinder law enforcement. “As the Ranger approached the person with the cigarette, Kokesh physically blocked and obstructed the Ranger,” the report read. “As the Ranger pushed forward, Kokesh grabbed the Ranger by the arm to hold him back. Kokesh was then taken into custody.”

Kokesh, 31, is a controversial activist who served in Iraq and upon returning shaped himself into an anti-war activist. While past arrests have been connected to his anti-war activism, he has also been thrown out of the 2008 Republican National Convention for heckling John McCain and was arrested for dancing at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., during a protest of a court decision that banned dancing at the site.

While he has opposed the event “Islamo-Facism Awareness Week” at George Washington University where he attended in 2007, calling the event racist and Islamophobic, he has at the same time maintained close relationships with white supremacists. Kokesh counts among his friends Kevin DeAnna, one of the founders of the white supremacist group Youth for Western Civilization who has appeared on his television program Adam Vs. The Man. That program appeared on Russia Today (RT) until the station canceled it when it was learned that Kokesh was using the program to raise money for then-presidential candidate Ron Paul.

On May 2, Kokesh announced that he was organizing an “Open Carry March on Washington” for July 4 where he intended to march from Arlington National Cemetery and into Washington, DC in what was going to be what the event’s Facebook page calls “ an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event” Curiously, a white supremacist group was promoting a similar event on the same day in the same city just weeks before.

It has been opined that Kokesh, who is currently being held without bond, was arrested to prevent him from having his rally. According to Jewell, Kokesh has a detention hearing on Thursday at 1:30 after his refusal to answer basic questions. “The reason for the detention hearing is because Adam will not speak on if he owns fire arms or his address,” Jewell wrote.
