FMR. US. REP. CYNTHIA McKINNEY EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER NEXT WEEKEND'S 'FREEDOMPALOOZA'

McKinneyThis weekend, an annual event featuring a number of white supremacists will be taking place in Pennsylvania, and somehow they got Former US Rep. Cynthia McKinney to speak. We didn’t think she would be too keen on appearing at an event sponsored by a person who was close to Hal Turner, a radio show host that once called for her lynching. We may be right.

One People’s Project

In 2006, when white supremacist and FBI informant Hal Turner had an online radio show, he opined on then-U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinning posting the following on his website:

Cynthia McKinney is a violent, black, racist, bitch whose official re-election campaign web site calls white people “crackers”. As such, on this Wednesday evening’s show I will ask the question “Given the prevalence of black crime in America, would it serve the public good to LYNCH Congresswoman McKinney within the next few weeks, while she’s on the campaign trail, so as to send an unmistakable message to other blacks: “white people are tired of your bullshit, behave or die.”

So when she learned that the organizers of a libertarian event in Pennsylvania she was invited to speak at was once promoted by Turner, and has also promoted an event on his radio show, ahe was understandably concerned.

“I am completely unaware of the information you have provided to me. I will certainly inquire of these connections of those who invited me,” Rep. McKinney told One People’s Project regarding of her speaking engagement at this weekend’s “Freedompalooza” an annual event in  Kintnersville, Pa being organized by Paul Topete, the anti-Semitic lead singer of the Allentown, PA- based band Pokerface that features speakers known for their associations with or activism in white supremacy or Holocaust denial.

This is the third year for this event, which is taking place at Johnny Mac’s American Grill in Kintnersville. It is touted on its website as “an annual festival committed to the fight for freedom by exposing the truth by means of music, speakers and vendors dedicated to helping Americans be successful in restoring our Republic.” It is being promoted by the American Free Press which is published by longtime anti-Semitc activist Willis Carto. Scheduled to speak in addition to Rep. McKinney, is Merlin Miller, the 2013 presidential nominee for the white supremacist  American Freedom Party (them American Third Position, A3P) Cyndi Steele, the wife of former attorney for Aryan Nations Edgar Steele, who is currently in prison for plotting to kill her and her mother, and another former congressman, Rep. Jim Trafficant, who lost his seat after being convicted of taking bribes, filing false tax returns, racketeering, and forcing his aides to perform chores at his farm in Ohio and houseboat in Washington, D.C., serving a seven-year prison sentence for the crime.

Poker Face, a band that a moderator on the neo-Nazi website Stormfront refered to as “Our kind of protest rock”, had been promoted by Hal Turner regularly, and two members of the band called into his show to promote an anti-immigration rally in Harrisburg, PA in 2007 that brought out an overwheming number of white supremacists. When the group was not allowed to perform at a Libertarian Party conference at Rutgers University in 2006, Turner made threats on his radio show toward the Rutgers community similar to those he made towards Rep. McKinney. “Once again, Rutgers proves to be a hotbed of politically-correct tyranny, he said. “It brings to mind the old saying offered by Thomas Jefferson: The Tree of Liberty must sometimes be watered with the blood of tyrants. In my opinion, a number of folks at Rutgers need to bleed.”

“The tie to Hal Turner is absolutely troubling to me due to his status as a paid FBI informant who wrote, while on the FBI payroll, that I should be lynched on my way to vote,” Rep. McKinney said, noting that there were no action taken when Turner threatened her, but he was convicted when he made similar threats towards federal judges in Chicago, serving a 2 1/2 year sentence, and last week losing an appeal to overturn the conviction. “Nothing happened. When he made violent comments about White federal judges, he is exposed, prosecuted, and convicted.”

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, two other scheduled speakers decided to pull out of Freedompalooza citing Paul Topete’s Holocaust denial views.
