Dinalynn Andrews Potter attacked R&B legend Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers after he dedicated “People Get Ready” to Trayvon Martin. Again, don’t bother looking for this story in the right-wing media. This isn’t the Trayvon-related violence they want to talk about.

HAYWARD, CA–43-year-old Dinalynn Andrews Potter has been identified and charged with battery stemming from her attack Saturday evening of R&B legend Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers as he performed the 1955 song by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions “People Get Ready”, which he dedicated to slain teenager Trayvon Martin at a California blues festival.
Allegedly yelling “It’s all your fault!” Potter, who is white, leaped on stage moments after the 73-year-old Chambers, who is black, began to perform the song at the Hayward Russell City Blues Festival, according to MercuryNews.com. Prior to that, he addressed the crowd
People on stage subdued Potter after she allegedly shoved Chambers. No motive has been determined, but Chambers’ family members believe the attack was racially motivated,due to Chambers’ mention of Martin and urging police to file hate crime charges. A Facebook page has been set up urging those charges to be filed.
Chambers was taken to the hospital, but has since been released. He is using a cane to walk.
