BOB GRANT, ROT IN HELL!

Bob Grant Rot in HellDo yourself a favor and listen to the audio clips on his Rogue’s Gallery entry. You know how Oprah said that old racists have to die to achieve racial progress? We just made a big step towards that goal! The hardcore and aggressive approach that you see this organization take against conservatives and especially racists is directly due to this guy and we are glad folks were able to break him and break him hard! And that slams the lid on things for good, let alone today! Soon we will slam the lid on this clown. The coffin lid!

One People’s Project

In the last column he posted for his website dated Feb. 19, 2013, radio show host Bob Grant did the usual conservative groaning about Barack Obama being president and the loss of what people like him consider America was about. And while conservatives often speak in these terms, with Grant it was significant. He lamented about how his personal power – a power that then-New York City Mayor-elect Rudolph Giuliani credited with his win over the then-incumbent and first African-American Mayor David Dinkins – waned notably because no one remembered who he was. He was indeed a broken man and he lashed out at the media for allowing those he hated for taking his republic away from him. “There were many others who were complicit in the takeover, but history won’t mention you or me,” he wrote. “Come to think about it, who will be writing the history of the fall of America? We won’t be around and neither will anybody else.”

Whether or not a supposed “fall of America” occurs, Grant indeed will not be around, although he lived long enough to see a African-American president, the son of a Governor he hated become Governor himself, The election of a Mayor in New York that hopes to undo all the things he championed and even Nelson Mandela be honored globally as a statesman at his funeral. He also lived long enough too see much of his racist ideals soundly rejected by a new generation, as well as some of the people he supported which have been as far right as white supremacist Jared Taylor and even the neo-Nazi National Alliance, whom he once famously said he didn’t “have a problem with”. He saw all of this as he was himself taken down for good when his stunts became too much and he was fired from the station he was at for 15 years. Now,  Bob Grant himself is gone.

According to an online obituary by the Branchburg Funeral Home, Grant, 84, died on New Year’s Eve after a short illness. The vitriolic, racist radio host was known for known for a hate-mongering routine against people of color, the LGBT community, women and those that supported them that inspired the likes of Rush Limbaugh who worked at 77 WABC while he was there, and Sean Hannity, who replaced him when he was fired for making a comment suggesting he hoped then-Commerce Secretary Ron Brown had died in a plane crash in 1996, which Brown actually did.

Long before the comment about Brown however, Grant’s hate routine was well-known, and no matter how egregious, conservatives supported his every word. For 25 years in New York City while the left and others cried foul over his campaigns. The media watchdog group Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting once published an article noting how Grant, among other things, referred to African-Americans were “savages”, said he prayed NBA star Magic Johnson would develop into full-blown AIDS and die, and felt that during a gay pride parade “it would have been nice to have a few phalanxes of policemen with machine guns and mow them down.” This would not be the only time he has wished death on those he hated. He once longed for the day that George Halliday, who videotaped Rodney King being videotaped by police in Los Angeles would “get what’s coming to him”, and said that Native Americans “should consider themselves lucky America let them survive.” Reggae artist Bob Marley did not escape scorn either, as he said matter-of-factly that he was glad he was dead because he was a Rastafarian who had dreadlocks. And neither did Martin Luther King, Jr. who he routinely attacked and called a “bum” and a “scumbag”. Interestingly, Sean Hannity invited Grant onto his television program two years in a row on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

It was more than rhetoric when it came to Grant, however. He was also well known for promoting neo-Nazis and other white supremacists. Several times on his radio program, persons from those circles to hawk a neo-Nazi record label or organization and Grant would allow them to leave their contact info over the air. One of them was the newsletter published by Jared Taylor American Renaissance, and after the contact information was broadcast, Grant gushed over the letter he received from the publisher about the support he gave Taylor’s first book Paved With Good Intentions, and how his radio show helped in their moderate success with the book.

His hate had other repercussions as well. In 1996, when Grant, who at the point was broadcasting on WOR-AM after his firing from WABC, attacked the Asian Indian community in Islein, NJ as a people who “…live in curry, cook in curry, bathe in curry…” and spent his program attacking the immigration policy, swastikas were drawn on Indian homes there the following day, and one Indian store had its windows shot out. Despite Grant’s denials, many in the Indian community held him responsible for those attacks, and when he was part of an event celebrating WOR’s 75th anniversary at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, NJ protestors, many from the Indian community shouted him down and drowned him out.

This would not be the last protest Grant would see, as it would become a staple of many of his latter-day appearances. In 2008, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the trade publication Radio & Records was revoked after a spark of outrage. Scott Pellegrino, a regular thorn in Grant’s side who spearheaded the campaign against the award, said at the time that Grant’s racism could not be ignored. “There’s no question in my mind that Bob Grant is a racist,” he said. “He’s famous for one thing: hating blacks. It should be on his gravestone.”

Grant himself knew it was over even before the revocation. In 2004, Grant cried about the “Islamization of America”, targeting the newest group to hate, Muslims while lamenting the loss of influence whites have seen. “Look, you yourself – and I presume most of you are not Arabic, Islamic – I think your background might be similar to mine,” he said. “And therefore why in heaven’s name would you want to see your culture, your religion, your ethnic roots buried by a group of people who in many, many ways represent (a different) position from ours?”

In February 2009, Grant started his
website BobGrantOnline.com, where for four years he blogged regularly, and in September 2012, after returning to WABC on a limited basis, he announced he was ending his radio show for good. His blog was an attempt at a final appeal for Europeans to preserve white culture in America, the America he said was threatened in an article titled “Celebs, Media Stump for Obama” just before President Obama was reelected. “I want to awaken in you the spirit of all the nationalities, a sense of pride,” he wrote.“I don’t want to see a great people, regardless of whether they are from Madrid, or Oslo or Paris, or anywhere from that part of the world that produced the people who led the world in science, the arts and achievements that contributed the most to what we call western culture. I want the schools to stop teaching our youngsters that our ancestors were the bad guys and the others were the good guys who were noble and pure. No wonder so many kids of European background are on the defensive. At one time, the other people needed a break. And, thank God they got it. But, why does Hollywood and every person in show business, most of which are of European stock, work in behalf of those you would destroy you?”

In an ironic twist Wednesday, fellow hatemongering radio host Michael Savage took over the 3-6 time slot on WABC-AM that was recently vacated by Sean Hannity who moved along with Rush Limbaugh to WOR-AM on Jan 2. This was Bob Grant’s time slot before he was replaced by Hannity after his 1996 firing. Grant has been reported as not liking Michael Savage.
