CHELSEA, MA—The day before he was supposed to have a meet and greet at his home for a hate group he was a member of, the neo-Nazi that has been associated with several other hate groups and organized the Patriot Action conference and concert in New Hampshire five years ago died Friday.

According to a post on the neo-Nazi Free America Rally’s Facebook page, Scott “Hedge” Clarke, 41, died of heart failure. Earlier, a post from Clarke’s Facebook account canceled a meet and greet scheduled for the group on Saturday

Clarke has been associated with several neo-Nazi organizations in his life. Posting as “85475” on Stormfront, he said in 2005 that he was a “Proud Boston Natianal Alliance member”, citing a once prominent organization that disbanded in December after years of infighting and mismanagement. He has also been tied to Volksfront, which disbanded in 2012 American Front, Aryan Terror Brigade, who’s founder Josh “Hatchet” Steever posted a tribute on his page on the VK social network website, and most recently the American Freedom Party, which is the sponsor of an effort called the Free America Rally where white supremacists attempt to rally across the country similar to the campaigns waged by Tea Party organizations.

In 2009 Clarke was running the Boston-based East Coast White Unity, which sponsored along with Volksfront a neo-Nazi event called Patriot Action. Several white supremacist organization and bands participated in the event, which had to be moved from Boston to an American Legion post in Loudon, NH for fear of antifa opposition. In 2010, ECWU folded after Clarke was arrested on spousal abuse charges, for which he reportedly served two years in prison before being released last summer. He immediately began working with the American Freedom Party and a reconstituted Nationalist Movement.

At press time there is no information as to what caused Clarke’s heart failure.
