DAUPHIN COUNTY, PA – Robert Gaus, the head of the Harrisburg chapter of the Keystone State “Skinheads”(KSS), and joined his group in Philadelphia to oppose antifascists protesting the presence of hate groups in the city, is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15 for a preliminary hearing for what is classified as his third offense, and part of a history of lawlessness on his part that has included weapons charges and assault.
According to public records, Gaus, 43 of Hummelstown, PA was arrested June 21 in Derry, PA with a blood alcohol content higher than .16. In addition, he was also charged with driving an uninsured vehicle and other traffic violations. As this is his third offense, he could serve up to two years in prison if convicted.
Gaus was in Philadelphia neighborhood of Tacony when Antifa Philadelphia held a rally at the local library to protest the activities of racist groups like KSS and a Klan group in the area. He has also a regular staple at KSS public outings, most notably the annual “Leif Erickson Celebration” held every October for the past several years at Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row.
In 2001, Gaus was arrested on charges that he was in possesion of a firearm with its serial number altered. He was arrested again on a simple assault charge that was dismissed. In 2011, he was arrested on his first drunk driving infraction.
Gaus is currently engaged to marry Valerie Simmons, who was the partner of Atlantic City “Skinheads” member Owen Carr when he died of a drug overdose last December.
