Why? Because British actor and DJ Idris Elba, best known by folks in the US as Stringer Bell in The Wire, will play the Norse god Heimdall. This is definitely going to get people to come out now, whether it is those who are going as a protest against the C of CC, folks who are now curious about the movie, or antifa BEGGING for the Nazis to show up and protest. One person on Facebook said it best: “Wait – this is Thor, right? Not the actual Norse myth, but the guy who fights Fin Fang Foom and Ego the Living Planet, and hangs around with the Hulk? Who battled Dracula, fer Chrissakes? And people over look all of that to be outraged that there’s a black guy in this scenario? ARE THESE PEOPLE INSANE?” No, they just know how to get people talking about them. By the way, as an aside for teabaggers in the Things That Aren’t Helping Dept., The C of CC in their litany of complaints of racism against whites by the Jewish-owned Marvel that the “TEA Party movement was viciously attacked in an issue of Captain America.” We will let teabaggers try and deal with that one on their own, but what is especially curious to us is this line in their FAQ: “There is a saying that bad publicity is better than no publicity. This does not hold true for movies. With the steady bombardment of major motion pictures hitting theaters every week, studios need a positive buzz for a movie to be a success. Negative buzz will simply cause the public to become disinterested and go watch something else.” Back in February, a certain little conference in the DC area showed that negative buzz will prompt a hotel – in this case four to tell organizers of said conference to go somewhere else – which they couldn’t do until finding a as yet undisclosed spot in Charlotte, NC for one next February. Is the C of CC sure they want to play this game?

Spinoff Online

A white supremacist group has joined in a boycott of Thor because the Marvel Studios film cast a black actor as the Norse god Heimdall, the sentry of Asgard.

The Missouri-based Council of Conservative Citizens, labeled as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, writes that Marvel has “[declared] war on Norse mythology” by giving the pantheon “an insulting multi-cultural make-over” in the form of Idris Elba, the English actor known for his roles in The Wire, The Losers and The Office.

“It’s not enough that Marvel attacks conservatives values,” the post states, “now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin.” It directs visitors to Boycott Thor, whose subhead reads, “Keep social engineering out of European mythology.” It’s unclear whether the Council of Conservative Citizens is actually involved with the site, or simply subscribes to the ideology.

“It well known that Marvel is a company that advocates for left-wing ideologies and causes,” the boycott site insists. “Marvel front man Stan ‘Lee’ Lieber boasts of being a major financier of left-wing political candidates.
