\"PeterIt’s about time someone did this. For the past few years the Conservative Political Action Conference has become more and more open about hosting white supremacists, most notably Youth for Western Civilization, who had it’s inaugural event at the 2009 CPAC. But on Thursday, it will be the first time we can look at a CPAC workshop and identify everyone on a particular panel as among those circles. People for the American Way zeroed in on Peter Brimelow, who by the way is a regular at CPAC, and they are right. It is high time this crap stops now.<\/p>\n

People for the American Way<\/a><\/h3>\n

People For the American Way today called on GOP presidential candidates to speak out against the inclusion of a white nationalist leader this week at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference.<\/p>\n

The conference\u2014which will be addressed by Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and other GOP leaders\u2014 will be hosting Peter Brimelow, the founder of VDARE<\/a>, a white nationalist website which frequently publishes the works of anti-Semitic and racist writers. Brimelow, an immigrant from Great Britain, has expressed fear of the loss of America\u2019s white majority, blames non-white immigrants for social and economic problems and urges the Republican Party to give up on minority voters and focus on winning the white vote. He said that a New York City subway is the same as an Immigration and Naturalization Service waiting room, \u201can underworld that is not just teeming but also almost entirely colored.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s shocking that the CPAC would provide a platform for someone like Brimelow,\u201d said Michael Keegan, President of People For the American Way. \u201cResponsible GOP leaders should speak out against the bigotry and hatred that Brimelow and VDARE push on a regular basis. That\u2019s doubly true of anyone who aspires to the presidency of the United States. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum need to make it perfectly clear that they won\u2019t be silent when they\u2019re confronted with racism and anti-Semitism.\u201d<\/p>\n

VDARE has published the work of people like Robert Weissberg, who says that black and Hispanic students are responsible for problems in the American education system, Marcus Epstein, the Youth for Western Civilization leader who karate-chopped a black woman after calling her a n****r (and later pled guilty to assault), and J. Philippe Rushton of the eugenicist Pioneer Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe inclusion of Brimelow is all the more galling given the fact that another group, GOProud, was excluded from the conference simply for advocating equality for gay people,\u201d said Keegan. \u201cCPAC should make very clear that hatred has no place in our civic discourse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Southern Poverty Law Center lists VDARE as a White Nationalist hate group and notes that \u201cVDARE.com\u2019s archives contain articles like \u2018Freedom vs. Diversity,\u2019 \u2018Abolishing America,\u2019 \u2018Anarcho-Tyranny \u2014 Where Multiculturalism Leads\u2019 and \u2018Why Immigrants Kill.\u201d<\/p>\n
