Now you pay for that stupid-ass attempt at moral equivalency!<\/h3>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<h2><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/breakingbrown.com\/2014\/06\/prosecutor-fired-after-comparing-black-jurors-naacp-ties-to-white-supremacy\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Breaking Brown<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>A Texas prosecutor has been given the boot after comparing a <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD6\">black<\/span> juror\u2019s NAACP ties to white supremacy. Prosecutor Steve Brand booted a black juror after making the outlandish <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD2\">comparison<\/span>, then Brand was fired by <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD8\">District<\/span> <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD5\">Attorney<\/span> Rosemary Lehmberg.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Brand removed the juror from <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD3\">the panel<\/span>, Judge Julie Kocurek called the move improper because it was based solely on race and ordered that a new jury be seated.<\/p>\n<p>KVUE <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kvue.com\/story\/news\/local\/2014\/06\/11\/travis-county-prosecutor-fired-over-remarks-about-juror\/10356985\/\">reports<\/a> that Brand said \u201cIt\u2019s not because of race. It\u2019s because in part she appeared to be an activist, and that\u2019s what we don\u2019t want. Just as if she was white, we wouldn\u2019t want a white activist or a white supremacist.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right; clear: both; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 5px;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>Lehmberg says she told Brand that his comments did not \u201creflect my opinions or my values or those of our organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brand has hired an attorney named Tom Nesbitt to <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD4\">represent<\/span> him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSteve Brand is a dedicated, highly regarded, veteran prosecutor with a stellar record at the courthouse. Not once has he been accused of racially insensitive or intolerant conduct other than by Ms. Lehmberg\u2019s recent accusation,\u201d Nesbitt said in a <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD7\">statement<\/span>. \u201cHis termination was an unjust, and frankly bizarre act by the District Attorney.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brand had defended his decision to remove the juror by explaining that \u201cthere are things on <span class=\"IL_AD\" id=\"IL_AD1\">Facebook page<\/span> which appeared she was an activist in several ways [sic].\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No, nimrod. the NAACP is not the same thing as a white supremacist group.
